Sherwood Forest: The Outlaw’s Trail

IHow far is it from Nottingham into Sherwood Forest?

Twenty-five miles into the greenwood.

Creswick’s Sherwood exists only in legend, so StoryTrek imagines it as one connected landscape, arranging the novel’s most memorable scenes into a plausible 25-mile walk with 8 waypoints rather than tracing a real Nottinghamshire trail. Every walk, run, or treadmill session your phone records moves you along it.

IIThe road ahead

From yeoman’s son to outlaw captain.

The trail begins in the market square of Nottingham and follows Robin into the heart of Sherwood, through his rise from a yeoman’s son to captain of the greenwood. It closes at the quiet priory where his story ends. For a longer ramble with Robin, Robin Hood: The Merry Adventures follows Howard Pyle’s book over 130 miles.

Each of the 8 waypoints carries one of N. C. Wyeth’s eight full-page color plates from the 1917 edition, paired with a moment from the story. Reach one, and the trail opens on to the next painting.

Walk it together

Start a company and bring a friend, a book club, or the office into the greenwood. Everyone walks their own miles, wherever they live, and the whole band heads for the priory at the trail’s end.
